From the same era, the 1920s, as the Sowerby covered hen, although somewhat more scarce. Bear in mind that there are similar designs in contemporary Carnival: this one has an open neck, the newer ones have the neck filled in with clear glass. As with the Sowerby Covered Hens, probably intended to be used as butter dishes.
