Double Star, Cambridge   Updated 11/9/2009

This pattern derives its name from the two types of stars on the trunk of each shape; one large whirling star and a smaller hobstar. Some pieces in this pattern are marked "Nearcut," a Cambridge trade name. Most items are green but an occasional marigold or amethyst piece turns up now and then. The spittoon whimsey is an extraordinary rarity and was made from a tumbler. It sold for $3,900 in 1999. Some writers contend that Buzz Saw cruets are actually this pattern, but Alan and Lorraine Pickup think they are a different, though similar, pattern.
