| A classic design but still confused with other patterns because of its simplicity. While there are two base sizes--2 7/8 inches and 3 1/8 inches, heights vary little, mostly between 9 and 12 inches, though squatty vases (under 7 inches) occasionally show up. For some reason, this piece is particularly susceptible to damage, at both the feet and the top edge. Don't settle for a damaged or inferior example in aqua opal as this color is the most widely available. The examples at left are a vivid green opal, referred to as kelly green at the 1998 auction where it sold for $900, and a blue one that is unusually short--just 6 3/4 inches tall. This is also the only vase pattern with advertising molded into the base. A few have bases with a star and are thought to be Millersburg. |
