Inverted Thistle, Cambridge   Updated 12/5/2011
This pattern is not seen as often as Cambridge's other intaglio pattern Inverted Strawberry. There are also fewer shapes known. Shown above is a marigold tumbler, one of the few known. All table set pieces are rare. Shown above is the covered sugar in amethyst. It sold for $325 in 1994. At the right is a nut bowl. Note the feet, typical of this piece. What's not typical is the shape--it has been whimsied by pulling out two sides with the other two up. It's in green and sold for $600 in 1999.
