Tree Trunk Rarities, Northwood

Shown here are three extreme rarities in the Northwood Tree Trunk pattern. On the left and lower center are a midsize vase in blue slag, sometimes called sorbini. It is courtesy of Don and Becky Hamlet. Top center is a standard size jester's cap in marigold. The jester's cap differs from the jack-in-the-pulpit in that just the back point is pulled up, rather than the entire back edge. This shape is also found more frequently in Northwood's Thin Rib. On the right is one of two known funeral vases in ice blue. This one sold in for $26,000 in 1994, then again the next year for $27,000.
