Falling Stars, Riihimaki

This vase was sold at a Burns auction in 2021 for $50. It's marigold and just over 11 inches tall.

Glen and Steve Thistlewood report in their Carnival Glass from Europe Encyclopedia that this heavy vase, illustrated and identified in a Riihimaki catalog as "5992," is currently known only in marigold and in this 11-inch height and is, thus far, the only shape reported in this pattern. It has been found with the top widely flared, as well as only slightly flared. Glen and Steve also show a photograph of the rather unusual marie on the bottom of its base.

The name is apparently due to the stars toward the bottom of the piece.
